The mission of GolfBoxy is to help golfers improve their game. We provide unbiased equipment reviews, in-depth buying guides, tips from pro instructors, course recommendations, and more.
Our goal is to give you the knowledge to make smart purchasing decisions, shave strokes off your score, and get the most enjoyment out of this beloved sport.
Our Story
GolfBoxy was founded in 2020 by Gary Thompson, an avid golfer of 15+ years. As a high handicapper himself, Gary was frustrated by the lack of accessible advice online for average golfers. Too many sites focused on pros and equipment for scratch players.
So he launched GolfBoxy as a place for golfers of all skill levels to get useful, practical advice. We focus our content on the needs of bogey and hobby players.
Over the years, we’ve continued to expand our instructional content while building a reputation for honest, in-depth equipment reviews. We’ve proudly remained advertisement-free to retain our independence.
Meet Gary
Gary Thompson has been obsessed with golf since childhood thanks to his dad, a single digit handicapper. He played competitively in high school and college as a mid handicapper.
After college, work and family limited Gary’s play, but his passion for the game never waned. He enjoys studying the latest equipment and technology almost as much as playing.
Gary started GolfBoxy to merge his two loves – golf and content creation. He’s committed to making the site a valuable resource for golfers of all levels.
